Do I have to talk to people who approach me while I am wearing a Talk2Me hat?

Of course not! You can always end a conversation at any time. Just be mindful that when wearing our merch, people will likely be expecting you to engage in some sort interaction if they know our brand, so you should probably be in a social mood if you are wearing it!

What if no one recognizes the Talk2Me Hat?

This is expected, especially as we initially expand our influence and message! Of course, we can never guarantee that the people you see in public would have heard about Talk2Me, but we are determined to spread our message in concentrated areas (like universities, urban cities, event venues, etc.), so if you heard about Talk2Me, chances are the people you see would have too!

 

Anyone can help spread the love and join the movement by taking the initiative to talk to people that they see wearing our hats, wearing their own hat as often as they find comfortable, letting others scan their hat’s QR code during interactions, and just utilizing word-of-mouth and social media to share their experiences with our hats! 

 

Even if you don’t have any new interactions wearing our hat, you are still rocking a casual, cool hat for a good cause and giving tons of people an opportunity to interact with you! You never know who you might run into.

Why hats/why just a hat?

We believe that people are not naturally reckless and naive and can detect danger on their own. Our idea of opening up connectivity is not meant to have people put down their guard, and you should approach people with caution just as you would in any social situation. If you see someone suspicious wearing our merch, please don’t approach them.

What about stranger danger?

Talking to strangers has been proven to increase happiness, create a sense of belonging, increase mental sharpness, and decrease the sense of loneliness and isolation. Research has also shown that the number as well as the diversity of social interactions are both great predictors of overall well-being. 

 

So basically, talking to strangers is great for your mental health!
